"It's an indescribable feeling,"

Northwestern has picked up commit #15. Three-star running back Jordan Perkins (Lodi, CA) has dropped his commitment with Stanford, and has given his verbal commitment to Pat Fitzgerald and the Northwestern Wildcats.

"It's an indescribable feeling," Perkins said of his commitment. "I'm trying to grasp the reality of it to make sure it's not a dream."

Perkins (6-0, 180-lb) had said earlier in the week that he did not plan on making a final decision over the weekend. He was still a Stanford commit, and wanted to digest the visit with Northwestern. But Perkins was blown away by what Pat Fitzgerald and the Wildcats had to offer.

"I've never been to Chicago before, or Evanston," Perkins said. "The town really blew me away for the first hours. I spent the whole days with the coaches. They treat you like a real person. I got a nice tour of Chicago this morning. Coach Fitz explained everything they have to offer. It seems too good to be true. Coach Fitz offered me a scholarship this morning. I committed in the first minute."

Perkins will provide the Wildcats much-needed depth at running back. The Wildcats lost four running backs in the offseason, three of them leaving unexpectedly. The Wildcats made it a priority to bring in a running back commit, and the ex-Stanford commit became a perfect fit for Northwestern.

Perkins chose to back out on his Stanford commitment because he had not been accepted by the university. Perkins remained the only Cardinal commit who had not heard of his acceptance, and with National Signing Day approaching, Perkins grew concerned that he would miss out. He immediately scheduled an official visit to Northwestern, and quickly made his commitment.

Needless to say, making his commitment was a huge relief for Perkins, knowing he will have a school to sign with on National Signing Day.

"It's an overwhelming feeling," Perkins said. "It's just very humbling to know that a coach like Coach Fitzgerald would offer me a scholarship here."

Perkins was one of three recruits making his official visit to Northwestern this weekend. He joined three-star RB Tevin Williams (Euless, TX) and three-star DE Deonte Gibson (Lakewood, OH).
