Gibson was pretty relieved to have the entire recruiting process behind him.
"All the stress is out, he said. "I can enjoy my senior year and get ready for next year."
Gibson had committed to Pittsburgh before head coach Dave Wannstedt was fired.
Shortly after, he reopened his college search, making a stop in Evanston. Almost immediately after his visit to Northwestern, it hit him.
"On the way home when I had time to think about it, I knew that's where I wanted to be for the next four to five years."
Gibson will be away from his family, but he's glad to be making the transition to Northwestern with former St. Edward (OH) teammate, Geoff Mogus.
Next year, Gibson says his focus will be on adjusting to life in Evanston, but he's very excited about his future as a Wildcat.
"I can't wait to play college football, it's been my dream," he said. "It'll just be a whole new level and I'm very excited about that. I just want to play."
