Four-Star DT Hopes To Visit Northwestern

Since his recruitment began, four-star defensive tackle Tommy Schutt has been busy traveling the country on college visits.

The junior from Glenbard West (IL) High School began the recruiting process early, beginning to take visits as a sophomore, and still plans to visit more schools.

"Last year I visited Northwestern, Illinois, Michigan State and Iowa," he said. "This year I went to Ohio State, Florida, Michigan State, and I think that's it. I'm trying to get out to Ohio State again, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Northwestern also."

In order to make the right decision for his future, Schutt is keeping an open mind while he continues to take visits.

"Right now I'm really open to everything," he said. "I'm just trying to make visits and then sort everything out later."

While he isn't playing favorites, Schutt has picked out his favorite visits.

"The two that stuck out to me were Florida and Ohio State," he said. "Both were great visits and very impressive schools."

Schutt was also impressed with his visit to Evanston last spring.

"It was a great visit," he said. "I went to the spring game last year and got a great feel for the program. I got to meet with Coach Fitzgerald for a while afterwards. It was a great visit."

Schutt continues to stay in touch with Fitzgerald.

"I've just been talking to Coach Fitzgerald every once in a while about getting on campus and staying in touch really," he said.

Schutt plans to make his decision before his senior year, but won't rush into making a choice if he isn't ready.
