Simeon Forward On Wildcats' Radar

Northwestern is one of many schools that have made a push for Chicago Simeon forward Steve Taylor. The athletic four-star has hopes of playing in the NBA. Now, Taylor is trying to find a school that can take him there.

"I'm looking for a winner," said Steve Taylor. "I want a school that is going to prepare me for the next level. My dream is to play in the NBA. I want to be cool with the coaches and have a good relationship."

Thus far, Taylor holds offers from Northwestern, DePaul, Ohio, and Xavier. He's picked up a lot of interest from Illinois, Marquette, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, and others.

With a number of schools interested, Taylor is beginning to sort through each option. He remains unsure where NU stands, and which school stands out. When asked about a list of favorites, he said, "I'm not sure yet."

Northwestern was one of the first schools to show Taylor interest. He's been in touch with NU assistant coach Tavaras Hardy for some time, and Hardy has come to watch Taylor and his Simeon team play numerous times. The two have a good relationship.

"He's cool, he's the first person I've talked to from Northwestern," Taylor said of Hardy. "He's the one that I've met and I talk to him on the phone."

Taylor has not visited Northwestern, but hopes to do so in the future. Taylor has not been in contact with NU recently, but hopes to regain contact soon.

As a junior, Taylor averaged 11 points per game and eight rebounds per game, while helping his Simeon Wolverines to a 30-2 record and an Illinois State championship.
