"Fred's coaching experience at a number of successful programs, coupled with his reputation as a top notch recruiter, should pay immediate dividends," NU head coach Bill Carmody said in a statement.
This is Northwestern's second coaching move in the past month. Less than a month ago, Northwestern announced the promotion of Tavaras Hardy to the position of associate head coach. With a vacant seat on the bench, hiring Hill was a must. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with and learn from Coach Carmody who has one of the brightest offensive minds in the game," said Fred Hill in a statement. "Northwestern is an outstanding academic institution and Bill has this program headed in the right direction. I'm looking forward to being in the Big Ten and the great city of Chicago."
Hill is a graduate of Montclair State University, where he played guard on the basketball team. He is a native of Verona, New Jersey.
