"It feels really good (to get a Big Ten offer), especially with it being Northwestern," said Jimmy Herman. "They have strong academics and that's what I'm looking for. I'd say I'm pretty interested in them right now."
During the visit, Herman performed in Northwestern's one-day camp, then took a visit around campus with the coaching staff. At the end of the tour, he met with NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald and offered a scholarship.
For Herman, a number of things make Northwestern stand out.
"The whole experience there—they have a good campus and good academics," Herman said. "It's right by Chicago. They have a lot of good things about it."
Northwestern has been eyeing the talented safety for some time, and made it clear that they were very interested.
"I think they were going to offer me before I came to camp," Herman said.
"Definitely at the top," he said.
Now, Herman is shooting to make his decision at the end of the month. First, he needs to wrap up his busy schedule of visits. Then, he'll take some time to evaluate each option. After that, a decision will come.
"I need to evaluate everything before making any decision," he said.
