"It feels great," Lumpkin said to PurpleWildcats.com. "I just have it all taken care of. I talked to Coach Carmody today and I’m excited."
The decision to attend Northwestern came over offers from Richmond, Indiana State, Princeton, Holy Cross, Santa Clara, and numerous other schools.
At 6-foot-6 and 185 pounds with long arms and nice athleticism, the ability to play multiple positions is what attracted Northwestern to him. Kroschell feels he will bring a lot to the floor for the Wildcats.
“He is very long and very athletic and a good defender,” Minnesota Pump N Run coach Tom Kroschell told Scout's Brian Snow. “He can shoot the three as well as get to the basket. He is a very smart player, he has a real complete game. Versatility is one of his strong suits.”
The commitment of Lumpkin is the second for the Wildcats in the 2012 class. He joins big man Alex Olah in the 2012 haul.
As a junior, Lumpkin averaged 12.1 points per game while helping his team reach the Minnesota Class 3A state playoffs.
