Brown's Patience Pays Off

Terrance Brown was waiting patiently for Northwestern. They were the first school to contact him and became his favorite school. When Pat Fitzgerald called him on Monday night, his patience was rewarded. Brown gave his commitment to become a Wildcat.

Brown (6-foot-1, 220) had been interested in Northwestern ever since they became the first school to show contact him. On Monday night, he received a call from NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

"He just said he wanted to offer me a full ride scholarship," Brown said of Fitzgerald. "He said are you interested. I said yes, or course. I committed on the spot."

There was no thinking necessary for Terrance Brown. Northwestern had long been his favorite school and he was just waiting for that offer.

When Fitzgerald gave the offer, Brown didn't wait long to say yes.

"Probably not even a second," Brown said. "As soon as he asked me, I didn't even have to think about it."

Both Brown and Fitzgerald were equally excited as they discussed the commitment.

"He was excited, I was excited too," said Brown. "I could barely speak on the phone. He said we're happy to have you and great things happen to great people. Keep working hard."

Brown is the 16th commitment to Northwestern's 2012 class and the second safety prospect, joining Joseph Jones. NU was the first school to offer Brown, but if any other offers came in, he said it would have been hard to think of any other school

"I was looking at them the hardest," said Brown. "I didn't want to commit anywhere else."

Brown had a night to think about his commitment, but said it was hard to sleep. This morning, he had a hard time describing his excitement to be a Wildcat.

"I can't even put it in words," Brown said. "It's football and education, it has me all excited. I know it's a great situation for me."

Brown's wait is now over. He stayed patient as Northwestern continued to show interest. He waited with the hopes of becoming a Wildcat. On Monday night, it became official.

"The anticipation was killing me," he said. "Now that it's over and done with, I'm so excited. I'm still excited right now."
