Persa Sidelined

Posted Sep 3, 2011

Northwestern senior quarterback Dan Persa will not play, or even dress, against Boston College.

A Northwestern spokesman confirmed the news, just 90 minutes prior to the game. Sophomore Kain Colter will start at quarterback.

Persa has been working to return from his season-ending Achillies injury, which occurred during Northwestern's win against Iowa. Throughout preseason practices, he was limited and Colter took the majority of reps with the first-team offense.

Last season, Persa threw for 2,581 yards and 15 touchdowns in ten games. Colter completed three of nine passes for 38 yards during his three games of experience.
