A Northwestern spokesperson confirmed that Dan Persa and Mike Trumpy will not play.

Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa is in uniform and participated in pregame stretches, but will not play, according to a team spokesperson. This means sophomore Kain Colter will make his second career start.

Junior running back Mike Trumpy will not play today. He was listed as doubtful on the injury report with a head injury. He appeared to be injured in the fourth quarter against Boston College.

With Trumpy sidelined, Jacob Schmidt and Adonis Smith will likely see additional carries. NU running backs coach Matt MacPherson told that he hopes freshman Trevyon Green will see additional carries as well. Green received one handoff in week one.

In other pregame news, Northwestern will honor the 10-year mark of September 11th with in-game tributes. The midfield 'N' is colored in red, white, and blue. In addition, the players' helmets will have the patriotic logo.
