Persa Cleared, But Unlikely To Play

Northwestern QB Dan Persa will only play in case of an emergency.

According to Tina Akouris of the Chicago Sun-Times, Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa received medical clearance for Saturday's game, but will only be used in case of an emergency.

Sophomore quarterback Kain Colter will make his third career start at quarterback for the Wildcats.

This is the first game which Persa has received clearance from the NU medical staff. Last week, he dressed in uniform for the first time since his injury last November.

Persa is likely to start at quarterback against Illinois. He will have a bye week for extra rest.
