Shurna, the Big Ten's scoring champion, averaged 19.8 points per game while helping the Wildcats to a 18-12 regular-season record, and has the team in contention for a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Before Shurna, Northwestern's last first-team all-conference selection was Jitim Young, who earned the selection in 2004. He is the first NU three-time all-conference honoree since Evan Eschmeyer in 1997-99.
Also named first-team selections were Ohio State center Jared Sullinger, Purdue guard Robbie Hummel, Wisconsin guard Jordan Taylor, and Michigan State forward Draymond Green, who also was named Big Ten Player of the Year.
NU junior forward Drew Crawford was named Third-Team All-Big Ten. Point guard Dave Sobolewski was honored on the All-Freshman Team.
