The San Diego Chargers have cut veteran defensive end Luis Castillo after rejoining the team earlier this year on a one-year contract. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound former first-round draft pick sustained a fractured tibia in the first game of last season and spent the year on injured reserve.

Castillo visited the New England Patriots after being released, but ultimately re-signed with his original employer. For his career, he has 276 tackles, 19 sacks and 43 tackles for loss in 81 games with 78 starts.

Castillo has also started seven playoff games with 20 tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss.
