After accumulating 281 all-purpose yards in Northwestern's season-opener, junior Venric Mark was named the Big Ten's Special Teams Co-Player of the Week.
On special teams, Mark racked up 134 punt return yards on two chances, including an 82-yard return for a touchdown. His total broke a 21-year-old Northwestern single-game record.
Mark also added a 29-yard touchdown catch and posted 84 yards of rushing in his first start at running back.
A native of Tomball, TX., Mark last earned such honor for the week of Nov. 29, 2010. Also earning the award for week one was Iowa kicker Mike Meyer.
