Gibson sidelined against Vanderbilt Publisher

Northwestern redshirt freshman defensive end Deonte Gibson will be sidelined for Saturday's game against Vanderbilt.

For the second straight week, Northwestern's injury report includes just one name.

This week, that name is Deonte Gibson, who will be sidelined due to an elbow injury suffered in the season-opener against Syracuse. He did not return during the game and was held out of practice.

Taking Gibson's place will be true freshman defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo, who is now the backup behind senior Quentin Williams; however, Odenigbo is likely to see plenty of playing time.

NU hosts the Commodores at 6 CT at Ryan Field, the home-opener for the Wildcats.
