Ariguzo earns Big Ten recognition

Northwestern sophomore linebacker Chi Chi Ariguzo was tabbed the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week, following his impressive performance against Vanderbilt.

Chi Chi Ariguzo was tabbed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, that following his standout effort against Vanderbilt.

Ariguzo posted 10 tackles including three for a loss, helping Northwestern to a 23-13 win over the Commodores. The game was won thanks to a solid performance from the Wildcats' defense.

During week one, Ariguzo tallied seven tackles including 1.5 for a loss, plus added an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Northwestern junior running back Venric Mark was also named to the Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll -- recognizing the top versatile performance -- for the second straight week.

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Week for week two.
