Jershon Cobb will be sidelined for the entire season, one which offered plenty of promise for the rising junior.
Cobb has been suspended for the season due to multiple violations of team policies. A source confirms it is not a legal issue. Cobb remains enrolled at Northwestern and maintains two years of eligibility.
"There are standards that each student-athlete is expected to uphold," Northwestern head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody said in a statement. "JerShon has our complete support as he works to fulfill those expectations and we look forward to having him rejoin the program in a full capacity in the future."
Cobb was tabbed as a likely starter for the Wildcats this season, that following two injury-plagued seasons. He averaged just over seven points per game each year.
Northwestern's two-guard position will likely be filled by Reggie Hearn, Alex Marcotullio and Tre Demps.
