Morrissey Grabs First Offer

A good sized athlete who can play either side of the ball, Lincolnshire Stevenson (Ill.) junior Matt Morrissey picked up his first offer on Monday,

Lincolnshire Stevenson's Matt Morrissey had a big sophomore year and has followed it up with more strong play as a junior, helping Stevenson to an 8-2 mark and another playoff appearance.

At 6'3, 180-lbs, with the ability to play both ways, and has heard from a number of colleges. On Monday, a major milestone was reached when he earned his first offer from Toledo.

"I'm not positive if I will be visiting Toledo, but I am so excited to get my first offer," he said. "I have heard a lot of great things about the program at Toledo."

Both of Morrissey's parents went to Michigan State, and he has heard from the Spartans along with Illinois, where he visited this season, Wisconsin, where he camped over the summer, along with Northwestern, Michigan, and others.

"I do not [have any more visits planned] just because the playoff schedule is so busy," he said.

Stevenson takes on 9-1 Glenbard North on Saturday. Fox Sports NEXT will have full coverage of that playoff battle.
