Widely considered Northwestern's best defensive tackle, McEvilly missed the past two games and has been ruled out of Saturday's matchup against Wisconsin. The source added that the "lower body injury" involved his foot.
"It's tough missing Sean," Chance Carter told PW's Steven Goldstein on Wednesday. "… It's killing him not to be out there. He's got one of the quickest twitches on the D-line. He's got great hand placement and he's really fast, the fastest D-tackle we have on this team."
Thankfully for NU, he'll return for the bulk of conference play. The Ohio State loss might have demonstrated just how much they miss him. Carlos Hyde ran for 168 yards and three touchdowns, with Carter and Will Hampton struggling at times.
NU faces another challenge in stopping Wisconsin's Gordon-White-Clement running back unit, which posted 1,505 yards in the first five games. After that, it certainly seems as though McEvilly will fortify the group—beginning this coming week.
