UPDATE: Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that Levin will visit Northwestern, Marquette and Notre Dame next month.
Levin was granted his release from LMU after one season, during which he averaged 11.1 points and 7.1 rebounds.
Levin would fit the prototype of an athletic "stretch four." The 6-foot-7 power forward can hit the occasional three, excel at the free throw line and still rebound well.
Better, after sitting out this year, Levin will have three years of eligibility remaining. That makes him a primary target for other schools, with Connor also reporting that UAB and American are on Levin's trail.
NU has an obvious, long-term need for power forwards and centers. The Wildcats' frontcourt comprises Alex Olah, Jeremiah Kreisberg and Gavin Skelly. Kreisberg will play for only one season, leaving NU to build interior depth.
We'll have more as the situation progresses.
