The N on the Roof

Anyone who flew into Chicago back in 2000 remembers Bill's decorations...

Here's today's Post of the Day

December 2000:

When NU announced they were going to the Alamo Bowl, I put a big athletic 'N' in purple Christmas lights on the roof of my garage. Remember, it snowed pretty good that year, and I went up there, and shoveled off the roof. I wondered what people thought.

August 2001:

A car pulls up while I'm mowing the lawn one after noon. The guy gets out and says, "I've been waiting to catch you outside. What was that big 'N' on your roof for?" I told him I was an NU alum, and that it was for the team going to a bowl game. The guy replied, "Oh, we thought it was for Notre Dame or something like that". I ran over his foot with the mower. :-)

December 2003:

My neighbor comes out and chats while I'm stringing Christmas lights. He tells me about his trips to San Diego back in 2000 and 2001. Then he says, "Did I ever tell you about flying into O'Hare one evening in December a few years ago? I looked out my window, and wondered what town we were flying over, when I saw the 'N' on your garage roof."
 

So there you have it. Sometimes the silly things you do in life really do make others wonder why you did it.

And I have to ask...

Is the N on his garage again this year?
