NU's Basketball Coach get the big Prize.

But NU's hoped for Player of the Year award goes to others

The Big 10 recognized NU's achievements in 21003-04
NU's Head Basketball Coach - Bill Carmody was awarded Coach of the Year by the Media.

Part of the award announcement read:
Carmody's squad produced an 8-8 mark this season, the best finish of his four years in Evanston and the first .500 record for the program in more than 35 years, as the 1967-68 team was the last to accomplish that feat with a record of 8-6.
But the guy who we hoped would win a Player of the Year was named to the 2003-04 All-Big Ten Men's Basketball Team.

Jitim Young, the only senior on the first team, was the Wildcats' scoring and rebound leader at the end of the season, and was mentioned by several coaches as their pick for one of the top awards. RS Sophomore Vedran Vukusic was named to the Honorable Mention team.

But the Player of the Year award went to Wisconsin's Devin Harris.

The Defensive player of the year honors went to Purdue's Kenneth Lowe, Freshman of the Year was awardxed to Minnesota's Kris Humphries.

The entire annoucement is on the Big 10 Page - you can click here for the rest of the details.
Congrats to Bill Carmody, Jitim Young and Vedran Vukusic. the Big 10 tournament starts Thursday.
