Another "Scoring Machine?"
To start with, Melchior seems to be able to score a lot... Purple Reign has done a little digging around the internet, and it appears that Jean-Marc Melchior averaged 19.4 points per game last year playing forward for Luxemburg's Black Star Mersch basketball club. When you check his game-by-game scoring, he has 4 games with 30 or more points, one with 39. That would seem to qualify him as a "scoring machine" too. He's listed as a forward, although at 6-6 he's more likely to wind up as a shooting guard at NU. Melchoir has been part of championship basketball in Luxemburg since 1996 - he was on the Black Star minis championship team. He also was on Black Star's championship teams in 1997, and 2002. They haven't played as well lately, although they've had some top scoring from Mechior and others. Last year they finished 6-12, 8 of 10 teams. Melchior apparently picks up one of the two open scholarships left when T.J. Parker and Ivan Tolic left the team. Michael Jenkins was recently awarded one and is expected to play Point Guard for the Cats in 2005-06. Mechior would get the other position when he registers for classes in September. There are several stories on European Basketball web sites about Melchior, but only one part of an interview is readable - his favorite expression?
