NU Recruit Update - 9/20

Kicker Stefan Demos, TE Brendan Mitchell and QB/S Brad Phillips are Northwestern's three commits so far this year. Purple Reign cranks up the HS Update machine for another season...

Here's the latest on Northwestern's Class of 2006 Commits:

We started doing this thing about 3 years ago, and it appears that its time to once again start following the NU Commits.

K Stefan Demos **
[5-10 190] Horizon HS [Huskies], Scottsdale, Ariz.

Kicked 2 FG's [47 and 25 yds] and had 2 PATs in Horizon's win over Mesa. Horizon came from a 14-0 deficit got get the win. Horizon is 3-0 in play, but have yet to start league play in the 5A Desert Valley conference.

He also had Two FGs [25 & 43yds] and 3 PATs in the 27-13 win over Mountain Pointe and provided the last 7 points scored by Horizon in their opening week win over Chandler. He kicked Field Goals of 39 and 42 yards.

He's averaging 2 FG's a game, and is perfect in PATs.

TE Brendan Mitchell ***
[6-3 220 4.7] Western Reserve Academy [Pioneers], Hudson Ohio -

Pioneers are picked to win the Interstate Prep School League -

They opened with a 42-23 win over the Columbus Crusaders. They beat Kingston Wyoming 35-27, but Mitchell didn't score in the game. [Game Info from Ohio.com]

S Brad Phillips **
[6-3 205 4.5] Franklin Regional SHS [Panthers], Murrysville, Penn.

Here comes another QB with great numbers -

The Franklin Panthers came from behind to beat Pine Richland 49-48. Phillips rushed for 177 yards on 11 carries, to go with 85 yards and 2 TDs passing. He had an 83 yard scoring run in the first half of the game.

Next up are the Hampton Talbots, but the Panthers are reported to be still on cloud 9 after winning their conference home opener. [game info from the Murrysville Star]
