NU Recruit Update - 9/25

Kicker Stefan Demos, TE Brendan Mitchell and QB/S Brad Phillips are Northwestern's three commits so far this year. Here's more on how their teams did this past weekend

Here's the latest on Northwestern's Class of 2006 Commits:
So far there are 3 High School Football Players who have committed to Northwestern:

[5-10 190] Horizon HS [Huskies], Scottsdale, Ariz.

Horizon beat Red Mountain on the road 33-32

[Red Mountain didn't send any further report to the Phoenix papers]

However, this from the Mesa Newspaper: The soccer standout has committed to kick and punt at Northwestern. Coach says: "He is absolutely a great athlete. He is a kid who does it all. He plays scout team running back in practice. He's all over." — Horizon Coach Steve Casey in the East Valley Tribune

[6-3 220 4.7] Western Reserve Academy [Pioneers], Hudson Ohio -
Western Reserve beat Blair Academy of New Jersey 37-31, finishing up their non-conference schedule 3-0. Mitchell wasn't mentioned in the very short writeup on the game, however, WRA rushed for over 300 yards - something you don't do without a decent tight end.

[6-3 205 4.5] Franklin Regional SHS [Panthers], Murrysville, Penn.
The #5 Panthers [4-1, 2-1] rolled over Keystone Oaks 20-0 as Phillips rished for 85 yards and threw for another 130. He was 5 of 15 passing, including 2 TDs of 48 and 5 yards.

Keystone had been expected to pack the box on defense in an attempt to stop Phillips, which could explain the lower rushing numbers Friday. [Phillips had rushed for 119 yards on 14 carries and a TD the previous week.]

Last Friday, Franklin lost a heartbreaker, when lightning stopped the game Friday night with Franklin leading 17-7.

But when the game resumed on Saturday, the Hampton Talbots scored twice, including a 99 1/2 yard drive to win 20-17. Franklin had lost the WPIAL's leading rusher, Rob Armstrong on the 2nd play from scrimmage.

By the Way: Tyrell Sutton's Archbishop Hoban Knights continue to win - They beat Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph 43-13 Saturday.
