but I think we can call it officially over.
Last year, Tackle Trai Essex of the Pittsburgh Steelers became the first former NU Wildcat to play on a winning NFL "Super Bowl" team,
even though he was "inactive" for the game..
Earlier this year, Alums Luis Castillo [San Diego], Kevin Bentley [Seattle] and Zach Strief [New Orleans] looked like the best bets to make the big game last night, but it turns out a big man who has been on and off the Indianapolis Colt roster will pick up NU's second Super Bowl ring.
Matt Ulrich, a reserve offensive lineman, was plucked from free agency December 27th, after being waived by the Colts early in December. He
had been on and off the Indy roster since signing with them in 2005 after 3 years starting at NU.
Ulrich had played a couple of games in 2005 and knows the system but was one of 8 roster players listed as "inactive" for the game Sunday.
I'm still waiting for word from the two originators of the "factor," but lately it appears that having a former NU Wildcat on your inactive roster for the Big Game ensures a win.
Sort of a back door "Expect Victory?"
