but too many missed layups doomed the Wildcats' efforts at Mackey Saturday. NU finished the game with an anemic 33% Field goal percentage, and 5 of 23 [22%] from the arc. Purdue shot 60%, 50% from the arc.
Kevin Coble led all scorers with 15 points 3 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 steals.
Tim Doyle, and Jeremy Nash scored 8 each. Doyle had 5 assists - giving him 151 on the year - with 5 rebounds, Nash had 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
Craig Moore appeared to pop out of his shooting slump for a while, hitting a couple of 3-s early, but settleed for 6 points on 2 of 8 from the arc.
Sterling Williams had trouble with layups, he was 1 of 7 from the floor, Vince Scott also hit an early 3 but missed 3 more. He did have 3 rebounds in the game.
David Teague led the boilers with 23 points, Carl Landry added 15 with 10 rebounds, and Chris Lutz punished the Cats again, scoring 14 with 4 rebounds.
Poor Shooting [the percentages were NU's FG and 3 Point numbers], especially 4 or 5 missed layups doomed the Northwestern Wildcats as Purdue shot 50% from the arc and 60% from the floor to overcome 17 turnovers and 10 NU steals. The loss drops the Cats to the 11th seed in the Big 10 Tournament...
You can't beat Purdue if you shoot under 35% from outside the arc.
