The Press Release gets right to the point: The Tewaaraton Award Foundation announces Kristen Kjellman [scoring at left] as the 2007 Tewaaraton Trophy [presented by Warrior] winner.

Its the capstone on a phenominal career.
Midfielder Kristen Kjellman has a long list of accomplishments; a record 39 goals in NCAA Championship play, 66 goals, 24 assists this year, gives her 250 goals and 349 points for a career.

With her on the field, the Cats won three NCAA National Championships, runing up a 77-5 record. 13-1 in the NCAAs. Opponents usually tried to negate her play, which opened up scoring opportunities for her teammates. She only had 2 points in Sunday's final, but NU scored 14 additional points to win their 3rd championship 15-13 over Virginia.

She's been a finalist for the award three times, as voted by a committee of coaches from most of the Women's Lacrosse powers, winning twice and is the first female player to accomplish consecutive honors. She's also a finalist for the NCAA Honda Award for lacrosse, something she's won twice.

Kjellman was joined by fellow Wildcat Hannah Nielsen as a finalist, which bodes well for the future of NU's Women's Lacrosse program.

Congratulations to Kristen Kjellman
