Pittsburgh – With as much talent as we had on hand during Sunday’s Scout.com All-American Combine we felt it was only right to award an MVP at each position. Wilmington’s Chris Burns was the overall MVP because of his skills he exhibited during drills and his test results. Now take a look at who else looked the best among this talented group.

Quarterback

Josh Vick
The Kiski Area standout looks to be close to 100-percent after suffering a torn ACL during his junior season. Vick may be the most polished quarterback in Western Pennsylvania since Luke Getsy and Tyler Palko. He shows poise in the pocket and can make all the throws. He has an above average arm with decent velocity. He throws a nice tight spiral and throws in accurately.

On the Cusp: Ryan Sabo (Steel Valley, Pa.), Jordan Miller (New Philadelphia, Pa.) and Zack Stoudt (Dublin-Coffman, Ohio).

Running Back

Devoe Torrence
Had the Massillon (Ohio) Washington standout tested in all the events he could have earned the overall MVP honors. Torrence and Burns were taking a bunch of reps and often the results were the same, you had linebackers with their hands on their hips wondering what just happened? Count me in with the group that called Torrence a linebacker trying to be a running back. I can admit when I am wrong. This kid is a running back and a very good one at Ohio State.

One the cusp: Brandon Beachum (Cardinal Mooney, Ohio), Jarren Brown (C.H. Flowers, Md.), Jerome Larue (J.P. McCaskey, Pa.), Lonnie Liggins (Hereford, Md.), Ashante` Williams (Mayfield, Ohio), Marquel Ali (Woodrow Wilson, W.Va.) and LeVaughn Robinson (Penn Hills, Pa.).

Wide Receiver

D.J. Woods
Strongsville, Ohio native D.J. Woods is as hot as any prospect in the “Buckeye State”. He picked up a handful of offers last week and should see more coming in soon. He tested very well and looked like a man amongst boys in the one-on-ones. Now the question is, what side of the ball will he play on?

On the Cusp: Ed Tinker (Brashear, Pa.), Corey Brown (Gateway, Pa.), Jon Pryor (Gateway, Pa.), James O’Quinn (Kiski Area, Pa.), Mark Sampson (John Marshall, W.Va.), and Darius Polk (Virginia Episcopal. Va.).

Tight End

Jacob Stoneburner
Stoneburner, a native of Dublin-Coffman, Ohio came to the combine nursing a track injury. Despite, not being 100-percent he ran a 4.46 in the forty-yard dash. He then went out and still performed in all the position specific drill and the one-on-ones and excelled. This future Ohio State Buckeye has a chance to be something special.

Offensive Lineman

Bobby Massie
At, 6-7 and 336-pounds Bobby Massie can block out the sun. On Sunday, the Liberty Christian tackle blocked everything in his path and was basically dominant. Massie has great feet for a man his size. Despite weighing 336-pounds he has very little body fat. He has an amazingly large wingspan and a nice compact punch. Massie is very powerful and explosive. He has some work to do in the classroom, but once that is done he will blow up.

On the Cusp: R.J. Dill (Trinity (Camp Hill, Pa.), Mike Farrell (Shady Side Academy, Pa.), Marc Stevens (Lexington, Ohio), Eric Warning (Gateway, Pa.), Wayne Tribue (Central York, Pa), and Travis Poston (Hatboro-Horsham, Pa.).

Offensive Athlete

Cameron Saddler
Saddler did a little bit of everything at the combine and really showed his versatility. Saddler loves the game and it shows. He is lightning quick and very dangerous in the open field. People will always question his size, but you can never question the kids heart.

On the Cusp: A.J. Alexander (Altoona, Pa.) and Carlin Isles (Jackson, Ohio).

Defensive Lineman

Reggie Ellis
This was the third combine of the year for Reggie Ellis and he has been basically unstoppable at each one. The Washington (D.C.) Dunbar defensive tackle is incredibly quick off the snap and is a very good leverage player. He initiates contact quickly and sheds blockers and gets up-field. Ellis likes to talk, but he backs it up every time.

On the Cusp: James Wilson (Liberty Christian, Va.), Chris Henderson (Harrisburg, Pa.), Logan Schultz (Gettysburg, Pa.) and J.B. Lageman (Huntington, Pa.)

Linebacker

Doug Rippy
This was easily the toughest choice to make, this combine was stacked at the position with a number of great players that were all fairly equal in skill level. In the end we chose Columbus (Ohio) Linden McKinley linebacker Doug Rippy. Not only did he excel during the drills and the one-on-ones, but the kid is tireless. Everytime you looked over Rippy would be taking another rep. Now that his film is beginning to surface I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up with a pile of offers.

On the Cusp: Dan Mason (Penn Hills, Pa.), Shariff Blake (Harrisburg, Pa.), Steve Gardiner (Dublin-Coffman, Ohio), Jared Suvak (Big Walnut, Ohio), Joe Gaglione (Lake Catholic, Ohio), Manny Williams (Clairton, Pa), Shayne Hale (Gateway, Pa.) and Dorian Bell (Gateway, Pa.).

Defensive Back

Quamane Bryant
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Brashear cornerback Quamane Bryant put on a show at the combine and was the combines best defensive back. Bryant is lightning quick and has tremendous closing speed. The one knock on Bryant is his lack of size and college coaches are worried that he won’t be able to press bigger receivers.

On the Cusp: Kenny Stanback (Pickerington Central, Ohio), D.J. Wilds (Penn Hills, Pa.), Trae Watkins (Virginia Episcopal, Va.) and Akeem Moore (Brentwood, Pa.), Leon Green (Gateway, Pa.).
