Background: Good, young receiver whose 6-foot-6 frame makes an inviting target for Badger quarterbacks ... made eight catches for 148 yards and one touchdown in 2002 spring game.
2001: Earned first varsity letter as a true freshman … played in all 12 games … started at Ohio State and in three-receiver set vs. Michigan State … named to The Sporting News’ Big Ten All-Freshman Team … caught 14 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns … season-high two receptions in five different games … season-high 38 yards on two receptions vs. Michigan State … 13-yard TD grab at seventh-ranked Oregon was first catch of his career … made 17-yard touchdown reception vs. Iowa … used late in the season in efforts to block opposing PATs and field goals.
High School: All-American by Prep Football Report and PrepStar at North … Milwaukee Journal Sentinel state player of the year … all-state (WHSCA and A.P.) on offense and defense … team won 2000 state title ... career total of 135 receptions for 2,578 yards (19.0 ypc) with 34 touchdowns … caught 63 passes as a senior for 1,200 yards … eight of his 18 scoring grabs covered at least 40 yards … 53 receptions for 1,071 yards and 12 TDs as a junior … blocked five kicks as a senior … two-time state high jump champ … all-league basketball player … teammate of fellow Badger Bob Docherty ... coach was Steve Jorgensen.
