Biography:
Head Football Coach - 4th Season

Came to NU on short notice from Miami of Ohio on January 20, 1999, and in just his second season, directed a stunning turnaround in the Wildcats’ football fortunes. After a 3-8 season in his inaugural campaign, Walker engineered a complete overhaul of the Wildcat offense and the result was an 8-4 record, an Alamo Bowl berth and a share of the 2000 Big Ten championship.

Walker was recognized for his efforts in 2000 by both his peers and the media, as he was named Dave McClain Big Ten Coach of the Year and the Region 3 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association.

At Miami University he had been a top running back, holding many school records. Coached Running Backs at Miami, and North Carolina. Was Offensive Coordinator at North Carolina and Running Back Coach at NU before returning to Miami as Head Coach.

Has lifetime 74-54-5 record thru 2001.

Has coached a 1000 yard rushing running back 21 of 26 season coaching in the collegiate ranks.

In his own words, he's "no Johnny off the pickle boat - but he's got quite a test of his skills in 2002 with a very young team.
