2003: Started 28 games, team record was 24 - 4. Averaged 17.5 ppg, 10.2 rbg, 2.35 apg, 3.14 bpg, and almost 1 steal per game -- averaging 20 minutes per game. Field goal percentage was 63.4%, free throw percentage was 81.1%. As an FYI, in his career, he set the school rebounding record. Greenway over the years has had other big men, including Brad Lohaus (Iowa and the NBA), and more recently Chat Prewitt (ASU and currently playing in Greece).
Vince first became convinced about his basketball abilities at the NIKE All-American Camp last summer (incidentally at IUPUI). At that camp, he found that he could play with the big guys. Tracy Pierson, from Insider.com writing about the Nike Camp on July 10: "Scott was more impressive than you might have thought. He didn't do anything that made you say "wow," but he was a consistent, blue-collar worker under the basket and had good energy." The next week Vince performed quite well at the Nike Peach Jam in Augusta and was named among the top rebounders. At the end of August, Pierson and Greg Hicks had Vince as the #10 center in the West.
Recruiting: Had an offer from another university in the Big 10 besides NU, two in the Big 12, two in the Pac 10, and a host of offers from other "lesser" conferences. There were other offers if he would red shirt, or if he would wait until spring.
