J.A. Happ Profile

Phillies left-hander J.A. Happ became the first Phillie to garner a postseason award when he was named The Sporting News National League Rookie of the Year Tuesday afternoon. While this isn't the "official" rookie of the year honor, it is voted on by the players and could be a precursor for the honor which will be awarded next month.

"It feels really good to have guys that play against you vote for you," said Happ. "It's kind of the ultimate validation, really."

The American League honor went to White Sox third baseman Gordon Beckham.
